Accountability is everything

As a founder it is important to get comfortable, very quickly with the notion of accountability. There is no looking over your shoulder, no one else to blame the buck stops with you. Your sphere of accountability grows with your business. It starts with you and your family, and quickly grows to include your business partners, co-founder and your wider team. Further success is bound to attract investors and for long-term success you must foster extreme accountability to your customers.

I only work with founders that have a strong grasp of this concept of accountability.

Working with me will not be good for your ego, we will work through tough challenges together however ultimately what you do with the information is up to you to execute.

I have used the below quote from Henry Ford throughout my whole career, when I desire change I remind myself:

Working with me will help improve your mindset, challenge limiting beliefs and answer the questions that will help you understand the changes you need to make in order to succeed. I only work with 5 founders at any one time. I spend the time getting to know each founder before we agree to work with each other, to get a deeper understanding of what your expectations are from me as your coach and if my approach can meet those expectations.

As soon as the contract is signed I get to work. This usually means an hour before and after our session preparing and feeding back. I have also invested in a system that allows us to have a live interface with a unique log in. I add notes and feedback from our session as well as resource materials, models and exercises I think are relevant.

At the end of the session we agree on accountability measures to be evaluated at the beginning of the next session. This is the reason I prefer 70 mins, 10 mins reflection, 60 mins for what is coming up for you that week.

Being a great founder is a skill that can be learned. Working with a coach with context that holds you accountable can accelerate that learning curve, and give you some comfort on what can be a lonely journey.
